Forum, Textual Criticism of the Bible, [], 17 jun 2005 - Andrew Criddle: Marcion is listed (together with the old latin b etc) as a witness for reading this as ''For I delivered to you as of first importance that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures' ie without 'what I also received'. What evidence is there that Marcion's text of 1 Corinthians had this reading ?
- Stephen Carlon: According to Clabeaux's study (largely reliant on Harnack p. 91 and Blackman, p. 44 and 164), evidence for this variant may be found at Dial. Adam. 5.6 and Tert., Adv. Marc. 3.8.5. This variant is also discussed by U. Schmid, MARCION UND SEIN APOSTOLOS, pp.228-229 who presents the texts of Dial. 5.6 plus its Latin translation by Rufinus and discusses problems with concluding, based on this evidence, that Marcion's text lacked hO KAI PARELABON ("what I also received").
